Ant Pest Control – Get Your Treatment Fast – Contact Me Now
Ant Pest Control measures should only really be required where ants are invading or living in home or business. The primary concern in successfully eradicating ants is to correctly identify the species. Once I have established the type of ant, feeding behaviour and location of the nest I will advise on the most effective treatment to control the ant infestation. A rapid response using a professional treatment will prevent any ant infestation getting larger.
Ant Pest Control Information
The Black Garden Ant is the most common type of Ant that becomes a pest and a nuisance for most of my customers, whether this is at your home or business. The formation of a of a new colony of black ants starts with a single mated winged female ant (these are the flying Ants seen in summer) digging into the earth to produce a small cell (nest). She will lay a variable and eventually large number of white eggs that hatch after 3-4 weeks into white legless grubs. The female feeds them on nourishing secretions from her salivary glands. After 3 weeks the larvae are mature and pupate within their cell. This first generation will be made up entirely of worker ants. Once this occurs, these ants will now tend the queen and her brood by bringing a variety of food materials into the nest. The worker ants will extend and enlarge the nest, cleaning out much of the excreta and inedible rubbish. The numbered of ants at this stage will start to increase significantly.
Black Ants have a wide spectrum of acceptable foods but are particularly attracted to sweet substances. One successful foraging ant is able to return to the nest site and communicate the information to her co-worker ants, which is when you as a customer may notice a line of ants leading to your kitchen or other areas where a suitable food source has been identified. In the meantime, the ants are accidently contaminating food and food preparation surfaces in your home or business. Ants are not particularly dirty insects, however they will unfortunately walk across unsavoury and unclean areas during their foraging activities and this leads to ants invading your home and business leading to potential health risks. This is the main reason why Ants should be controlled with a variety of pest control treatments.
Ant Pest Control Treatments
Pest Control measures are generally only required when ants are entering and on occasion living in and around building structures. In cases of penetration, the first approach would be to try and seal any cracks or holes that ants are using to access your property. A variety of sealants can be used and your pest control professional will advise. A mixture of insecticide formulations will be used to treat and control ants such as spay, dusts and gels. The gels are particularly affective as the ants take this thinking it is a food source but contain a slow acting insecticide that the ants take back to their nests and share this with other co-workers and even the queen. Dusts should only be used inside buildings as these can and will kill and harm non-target insects. Spray formulations can be used internally and externally and will usually be used on the path’s ants are taking to get to and from their food source and across thresholds of the property.
